(Pottawattamie Co.) Pottawattamie County Emergency Management Director Doug Reed provided an update on disaster recovery to the board of Supervisors on Tuesday.
Pottawattamie County was rocked by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding in 2024. Reed went over the most recent data pulled from FEMA.
Reed noted that, out of the $2.3 million, the amount will be split between the county and the state in the final closeout.
The city of Minden was hit the hardest by an EF3 tornado.
Reed said they had a total of 96 projects initially developed, but 17 have withdrawn for various reasons. They have funded and closed 10 of those projects so far. Thirty-five projects are in queue, obligated and just waiting for the federal share, after which they will progress to the closeout process with FEMA. Thirty-four projects are in various stages of the approval process or are still being developed.
