(Audubon, IA) — The Audubon Girls Wrestling team will open their new season tonight in Des Moines. Head Coach Maryssa Soder says they will be able to fill every weight class but one this year with wrestlers on the team from Exira EHK and IKM Manning. Leading the way is Sophomore Macy Rasmussen who had an undefeated regular season and went 39-3 overall, finishing 6th place at state. Soder says there is nothing major to fix for Rasmussen this year — just working every day to get better
Soder says there are five seniors on the team — Elena Harbour was 24-15, Laura McCarville was 11-21 and Jordan Mulford was a state qualifier and 19-18
Two other seniors on the team are Evelyn Gomez and AJ Segebart. There are no juniors — Liv Inman and Makayla Zuniga are sophomores who have experience and there are 7 freshmen. Soder says tonight’s meet in Des Moines will be a good early measuring stick of her team
Other schools competing tonight at Des Moines Hoover are SE Polk, Norwalk, the Des Moines Public Schools team and Central Decatur.
