(Montgomery Co.) Montgomery County Emergency Management Director Brian Hamman provided a final update to the Board of Supervisors this morning on the May 2024 storms.
In May 2024, two major storm events swept through Montgomery County with five tornadoes that ultimately damaged 31 residential properties. Three were considered destroyed, five with major damage, and the rest received minor damage. The county also received heavy rains, hail, wind, and flash flooding.
Hamman also highlighted the damage to public infrastructure for the county, the cities and the RECs.
Hamman said they have $28,860.02 in remaining funds and he recommended allowing Conservation spend up to $22,827.67 out of those remaining funds and have the county absorb the local match or out of pocket costs which would result in a zero dollar loss to the county.
