(Council Bluffs) The Council Bluffs Police Department says an arrest has been made in the death of 17-year-old Hayden Baker. Jason Evans, 52, turned himself in late Friday afternoon on warrants resulting from the incident. He was booked on charges of Homicide by Vehicle, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, and Following Too Closely – enhanced due to death.
On October 18th, at approximately 6:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to a personal injury hit and run accident in the 1200 block of North Broadway. The investigation showed that Hayden Baker was stopped, facing northbound, preparing to make a left turn onto Hunter Avenue. Baker’s motorcycle was rear ended by a 2003 Chevrolet truck, driven by Jason Evans. Evans did not stop and continued to drive to his residence. He then contacted dispatch about the crash.
Baker was transported to UNMC where he later died from his injuries.
Toxicology results reported Evans was nearly four times the legal limit for alcohol and had marijuana in his system that evening.
