(Woodbine, IA) — Woodbine will play Bishop Garrigan for the 8 Man State Championship this Thursday, looking for the first ever high school football title in school history — they last appeared in a state title game in 1997 and were runners up in Class A to West Central Maynard. (The 8 man playoffs did not exist until 2000.)
The Tigers beat Gladbrook Reinbeck 38-30 in the semifinals, they built a 30-14 lead before the Rebels came back to tie it up and Brodyn Pryor threw a 10 yard TD pass to Landon Blum with just under four minutes left for the go ahead score. Head Coach Dustin Crook says the kids beat a good team
Woodbine is led by Junior All State Wideout Landon Blum with 52 receptions for 933 yards and 22 TD. Senior QB Brodyn Pryor has thrown for 1,805 yards, 35 TD and only 3 interceptions. Pryor and Micah Moores compliment each other in the running game, going for a combined 1200 yards
Crook credits a lot of the Tigers success with their offensive and defensive lines — he says he has a rotation going on both lines
#2 Woodbine is 11-0 and will face #1 Bishop Garrigan 12-0 in the 8 Man championship game this Thursday.
