(Undated) — A medical expert is offering tips on lowering the chances of getting Alzheimer’s disease. November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.
Sandra Darling who specializes in preventative medicine at the Cleveland Clinic says the focus should be on foods that will provide optimal nutrients like fiber, antioxidants and healthy fats. She recommends what’s called the MIND diet which consists of mainly plant-based foods, nuts, whole grains and beans.
Research from Rush University in Chicago found when people follow the MIND diet, it lowers the risk of Alzheimer’s compared to people that were not following it.
