(Griswold, IA) — While the Tigers may not have shown up in the win column often this year, the young squad will see plenty of their offensive and defensive prowess return in the 2026-2027 season. Griswold finished 1-8 this season taking a Week 1 non-district win over Stanton-Essex 28-20. Head Coach Seth Lembke graduates two key seniors this season but is prepared to fill in the gaps:
One of the seniors graduating is utility player Wyatt Silk who passed for 266 yards, rushed for 198 yards, had six receptions and 20.5 tackles as well on the other side of the football. RJ Dishong is the other senior graduating who logged 18.5 tackles and a sack on the season.
One of the key players returning is quarterback Dain Laverty who threw for 295 passing yards along with 472 scrimmage yards. Lembke says his development as a passer will be a key focus in the offseason:
The returning experience doesn’t end there, however. Sophomore Colton Frieze and junior Alex Rasmussen both ran for over five yards-per-carry this past season and both play crucial roles on the defensive side as well:
Griswold will also return this year’s leader in receptions Callen Kaiser who also had 37 tackles, as well as plenty of other defensive weapons as well.
