(Atlantic) A local family continues to build on a Thanksgiving Day tradition by providing free meals to the public.
Misty Holaday and Kristen Holaday-Brooks of the Holaday Baking Company are gearing up for the Fourth annual Community Thanksgiving event at the Cass County Community Center on November 27, Thanksgiving Day in Atlantic.
Kristen says the idea started after their grandmother’s passing.
Kristen says they reached out to the school system to find out if any families were struggling. In the second year, the number of families in need grew.
In their first year, the Holaday family served 400 meals, and last year, they provided more than 1,100 free meals.
The Community Thanksgiving will be held on November 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Cass County Community Center, located at 805 West 10th Street, Atlantic, Iowa 50022.
Take-out and delivery are available in Atlantic. Drop-off locations include Wiota, Anita, Cumberland, Massena, Lewis, Griswold, Marne, Elk Horn, and Exira. These are pre-ordered only. To place an order, please call or text Anna at 712-304-5272.
