(Greenfield, IA) — It’s been a tough road for the Nodaway Valley Wolverines, but an early season win to snap a 26-game losing streak shows the team’s growth. The Wolverines finished 1-7 and took a week 2 win over the Central Decatur Cardinals 33-18, but a tough schedule and some key injuries kept Nodaway Valley from staying in the win column. Head Coach Jack West says despite the losing record, he is proud of the growth and progress the team showed this season:
West graduates 10 seniors this year and will look for younger players to fill their roles in the 2026-2027 season. West says the graduating class set the standard for their program and filling the gaps won’t be easy:
The Wolverines already have some true leaders that will be returning to the gridiron, however. Sophomore Titan Foster was the team’s quarterback this year passing for just under 700 yards and using his legs for 137 yards. Tackling leader Caleb Christiansen will return for his senior year in 2026, and West is excited to see what he can do next season:
