(Iowa City, IA) — Iowa has a chance to jump into the college football playoff race as they host #9 Oregon on Saturday. The Hawkeyes have been overlooked in the AP poll and are ranked #20 in the CFP rankings and are poised to jump significantly if they can beat the Ducks. Iowa has won 3 in a row and are coming off a bye week — Head Coach Kirk Ferentz thinks his team will pick up right where they left off
Senior QB Mark Gronowski has overcome his early season jitters and has played winning football recently. He ran for 130 yards and 2 TD against Penn St; he ran for a TD and threw for another against Minnesota. His stats have not been overwhelming — especially his passing yards — but he is winning.
The Ducks are led by QB Dante Moore who has thrown for 1,772 yards, 19 TD and 4 INT. Noah Whittington, Dierre Hall Jr. and Jordon Davison share the running duties have over 1100 yards combined. Ferentz says Oregon is good in all facets of the game
Indiana beat Oregon 30-20 and Iowa has played the Hoosier tougher than anybody losing 20-15. Ferentz knows his team cannot make mistakes and they will have to find a way to make things happen
Oregon is 7-1, 4-1; Iowa is 6-2, 4-1, kickoff Saturday is at 2:30 pm, it will be televised by CBS.
