(Marengo, IA) — Audubon wants a trip to the UNI Dome but first they have to travel to Marengo to face Iowa Valley in the 8 Man Quarterfinals, coverage on KSOM.
Both teams have put up video game like numbers this season. The two teams ranked #1 and #2 in the state in touchdowns scored — Audubon has 99 and Iowa Valley 93. Iowa Valley leads the state with 3,400 rushing yards, the Wheelers are 4th with 3,200. The average score of an Audubon game is a 72-11 win. The average score of an Iowa Valley game is a 65-19 win.
Iowa Valley is led by Junior QB Nolan Kriegel who has ran for 1,713 yards and 41 TD and has passed for 721 yards and 12 more scores with no interceptions. Audubon Head Coach Sean Birks says their offense is very similar to Audubon’s and Kriegel can beat you a number of different ways
The Wheelers have not been to the Dome since 2021 when they lost to arch-rival CAM in the semifinals. Birks says its exciting to get the chance to play this time of the year
A win for Iowa Valley and it will be the best season in school history — the Tigers went 10-1 in 2018. Head Coach Casey Krull says that Audubon and Iowa Valley are the same in may ways and are evenly matched
Audubon’s QB Aiden Kjergaard has 1,256 yards on the ground with 30 rushing touchdowns while Mason Kasperbauer adds about 800 yards with 15 scores. Krull says Audubon is a disciplined, well oiled machine
