(Audubon) Several contested races were decided in the Audubon County city and school elections on Tuesday.
Four candidates ran for three seats on the Audubon City Council. Rodney Benton garnered the most votes with 249, followed by Brooke Wegner with 232, and Bruce Christensen with 216 votes. Jeff Jacobsen was defeated with 84 votes.
There was a race for the Exira City Council. Three candidates ran for two seats. Christina Nelson earned 106 votes, and Dory Schrader narrowly defeated Matt Long. Schrader garnered 64 votes, while Long garnered 59.
For the Kimballton City Council, Dirk Wasson received 61 votes, Sheila Patridge, 54, and Thomas Lake mustered 44 to earn the three seats. Peggy Mortensen mustered 31 votes.
Seven candidates ran for three seats on the Exira/EHK School Board. Abby Rasmussen received 235 votes, Emily Paulsen received 148, and Beth Larsen received 123 to fill the seats. Others running included Nick Fredericksen, 118; Eric Konecne, 107; Anna Schleimer, 62; and Deborah King, 55.
