(Lincoln, NE) — According to multiple media reports, Nebraska Sophomore QB Dylan Raiola is out for the season with a broken fibula. Raiola left Saturday’s 21-17 loss to USC in the third quarter. A Trojan defender stripped him of the ball and Raiola fell to the ground awkwardly and appeared to hurt his lower leg.
Raiola was 10-15 passing against USC for 91 yards and a TD. He has thrown for 2,000 yards even on the season which ranks 7th in the Big Ten. He has 18 TD and 6 interceptions and a passer rating of 158.6 which ranks 6th in the conference.
True freshman TJ Lateef from Compton, CA is listed on the depth chart as Nebraska’s backup quarterback — he replaced Raiola against USC and was 5-7 passing for just 7 yards. He has thrown 19 career passes and has 1 TD and no interceptions.
On his Instagram page on Sunday, Raiola thanked fans for their concerns and added that his injury is “just a small bump in the road to a beautiful journey back to playing the game that I love.”
Nebraska is 6-3 and will visit UCLA this Saturday.
