(Oakland, IA) — The Riverside Bulldogs have won 37 matches this season and have yet to meet an opponent that can hand them their first loss. Tonight, a familiar foe in Missouri Valley will try and dethrone the Bulldogs for a ticket to the regional finals.
Both teams have already seen each other twice this season. Their first meeting was in tournament play where Riverside won 2-1. Missouri Valley was the first team this season to get a set off of the undefeated Bulldogs, but the Bulldogs ran away with the win in the third set. Riverside hosted the second meeting, where the Lady Reds were once again able to even the match up, but the Bulldogs then took the third and fourth sets in commanding fashion. Riverside swept away the Underwood Eagles in the quarterfinals where Sydney Somers, Lilli Reed, and Madison Kelley combined for 25 kills. junior Sophia Fenner had 17 digs in the contest. Flathers says her team competed well:
