(Iowa City) Mariannette Miller-Meeks rallied support for Republicans in Iowa. Miller-Meeks held her annual tailgate fundraiser at Streb Construction in Iowa City on Friday, using the event to highlight GOP accomplishments and efforts to end the government shutdown.
Meanwhile, the Congresswoman is introducing a bill to fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program amid the government shutdown. The Keep SNAP Funded Act of 2025 aims to fund the program amid a shutdown that threatens benefits payments in some states.
The Department of Agriculture has warned that there will be insufficient funds to pay full SNAP benefits in November if the shutdown continues. Miller-Meeks’ bill is the companion to a SNAP-funding bill in the Senate being led by Senator Josh Hawley.
