(Guthrie Center, IA) — Logan Magnolia will travel to AC/GC for a Class A first round game tonight.
The Chargers won the district title with a 55-22 win over Riverside last week. Jaxon Gordon did rush for 134 yards and 2 TD but AC/GC could not be stopped on the offensive side. Joe Crawford ran for 157 yards and 2 TD; Brexton Schneider ran for 126 and 4 TD and Ryder Cline added 88 yards and 2 more scores. On defense, Head Coach Cody Matthewson went to a 3-5 alignment and inserted Angel Martinez at linebacker and he led the team in tackles with 5. Martinez had lost his fullback job to Schneider and then got hurt missing the last two games. Matthewson says he has redeemed himself in a big way
Matthewson is looking at Martinez seeing some time on the defensive line — he will go back to the conventional 4 man front against Logan Magnolia which has changed their offense from what Matthewson remembers which was the wishbone
Once again, AC/GC is going to run the football so for that to happen, Matthewson needs the big eaters to eat
Panthers Head Coach Matt Straight says his defense has to make the tackle to limit their yardage
Last week, Ashton Peszulik returned from an injury to help Logan Magnolia beat Akron Westfield 17-6 to secure a playoff spot. Peszulik was 10-14 passing for 97 yards. Straight says it was important to get him on the field before the playoffs and get one under his belt and he missed some big plays by a gnat’s eyelash
Straight believes his team can play with the Chargers
5-3 Logan Magnolia visits #4 ranked and 8-0 AC/GC
