(Atlantic) — Vision Atlantic President Christina Bateman says fundraising efforts are continuing to move forward for the organization’s major projects — the $84 million Transformation project includes 142 Housing units, the $39 million, 300-capacity Child Development Center, and the YMCA expansion.
Bateman reports that Vision Atlantic has secured about $27 million in signed pledges for the Child Development Center and YMCA expansion. The organization must raise 80 percent of the $39 million goal by December 31 to activate the Lakin Foundation’s $8.6 million grant.
She adds that Vision Atlantic is accepting pledges that can be paid over three years. Donations can be made in several ways — including checks, grain donations from the agricultural community, or stock donations.
Bateman says there is no confirmed timeline on the construction of the Child Development Center or YMCA expansion project. She says a lot depends on the fundraising.
Meanwhile, progress continues on the Camblin Hills housing development. Bateman says several condominium units are currently under construction, and slabs for the tiny homes are being poured this week. Construction on the single-family homes is expected to begin soon.
A total of 48 housing units are planned for completion this year. These will include 10 tiny homes owned by Vision Atlantic and rented as Airbnb units, along with a mix of condominiums and smaller single-family homes featuring 1,200 to 1,300 square feet on the main floor, with a two-car garage, and an unfinished basement. Additionally, there are larger custom-built homes with 1,800 to 1,900 square feet on the main floor, a three-car garage, and an unfinished basement. Bateman says there are also lots for sale for people who want to build their own homes.
