

(Guthrie Center, IA) — Riverside boys are #1 in the state in Class 1A and they dominated the district meet on Thursday night at AC/GC High School. The Bulldogs won with 29 points well ahead of Nodaway Valley 93. However, the Wolverines also qualified for state since the top two teams advance from districts, finishing just 6 points ahead of third place IKM Manning.
Individually, Haven Weers of Tri Center is the district champ at 16:11.74. Dawson Henderson of Riverside was 2nd at 16:27.13. Owen Fenner of Riverside 3rd at 16:31.84. Aiden Summerfield of Woodbine 4th and Dane Gorham of Boyer Valley was 5th. Brody Henderson of the Bulldogs was 6th, Preston Kent of AC/GC 7th, Jacob Sporrer of Logan Magnolia 8th, Cruz Jaquez of Riverside 9th, and Jackson Walter of St. Albert also qualified for state in 10th place.
On the girls side, Lilli Denton of St. Albert has never lost a race and that record is still intact. Denton finished just over 2 minutes ahead of Allysen Johnsen of Logan Magnolia. Denton’s time was 17:36.60 while Johnsen ran 19:47.50. Chloe Broer of West Monona 3rd, Mareni Brabec of Newell Fonda 4th, Keira Diehm of Heartland Christian 5th, Reese Dittmer of Tri Center 6th, Cadence Petersen of AC/GC 7th, Danika Meyer of Newell Fonda 8th, Quinn Sievers of Newell Fonda 9th and Brielle Kramer of Tri Center 10th.
Newell Fonda and Tri Center separated themselves from the pack and won the team automatic bids to state with 42 and 47 points respectively.
