(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors received an update on the Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline project this (Tuesday) morning.
Summit Carbon Solutions plans to build a pipeline system that captures carbon dioxide from ethanol plants and transport it safely for utilization or underground permanent storage.
In Pottawattamie County, the pipeline will enter from Shelby County just west of M23 and head south to near Magnolia Road, southwest of Hancock. It will then extend east to near Juniper Road before continuing south into Montgomery County.
Kaylee Gibson, Stakeholder Relations Manager with Turnkey Logistics, mentioned Summit has a new CEO and a new management team. She also spoke about the Community and Landowner Partnership Program. Part of that is an Emergency Response and Preparedness Commitment.
Gibson was asked to explain the dangers of a CO2 leak.
Gibson also noted that they are still negotiating with landowners. She said they are going to continue to work with landowners until the day they can no longer wait to construct.
Summit Carbon Solution is holding open houses in November for landowners and community members to meet the new management team and ask questions. One of those will be held November 10th in Red Oak from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McAlpine Place.
