(Tabor, IA) — Fremont Mills Football Head Coach Greg Ernster wants to avoid history repeating itself. Last season, the Knights lost to Ar-We-Va in the first round of the 8 Man playoffs 51-22. This year, they travel to Fort Dodge to visit St. Edmond. Ernster says that his number one running back Jonathan Ekpai will be a game time decision — he did not play in last week’s win over East Mills and if he cannot go, Ernster will turn to a running back by committee approach
Paxton Campbell and J.W. Linkenhoker leads the defense with 56 and 51 tackles respectively — Linkenhoker has 17.5 tackles for loss which is tied for 7th in 8 Man. Gavin Crom has 11 TFLs, Mason Reed has 10.5 TFLs — the Knights have 75 total tackles for a loss which ranks third in 8 Man. Ernster says its because of their quickness
The Gaels are led by QB Ethan Swisher with 1,043 passing yards with 15 TD and 5 INT. Ernster is impressed with St. Edmond’s receiving corps — Jakob Koopman leads with 31 catches for 486 yards and 7 TD plus Grant Galles with 28 receptions for 311 yards and 4 scores
Fremont Mills is 6-2, St. Edmond 5-3.
