(Atlantic) The Atlantic football team celebrated a 35-30 win over Harlan Community on Friday. Now, their focus is on a district title game at Carroll this Friday night. The Tigers and the Trojans are both undefeated in district play. Carroll is 5-3 in all games played, and Atlantic is 6-2.
Atlantic Head Coach Joe Brummer, reflecting on Friday night’s win, stated the team played well top to bottom.
The Trojans have secured a spot in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs on October 31. This Friday night, Carroll and Atlantic will not only be playing for a District title, but will play for a guaranteed first-round postseason home-field advantage. Coach Brummer says Carroll will pose a significant challenge on Friday night.
Both teams have solid rushing attacks. Atlantic has rushed for 2005 yards and passed for another 535. Carroll has 1,974 yards rushing and 724 yards passing. We will have much on this game later in the week.
