(Lewis) The Youth Pheasant Hunting season is the weekend, October 18th and 19th.
John Lorenzen, with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Office in Lewis, says the daily bag limit is one Pheasant. Additionally, this pheasant hunting season in Iowa marks a significant milestone. Iowa has long been known as one of the best places in the United States to hunt pheasants. The rich tradition began on October 20, 1925.
“This is a big anniversary for us in Iowa,” said Lorenzen. “Our pheasant numbers are at 20-year highs, so that is wonderful news too.”
Lorenzen says the daily bag limit this weekend is one Pheasant. The official start of the Pheasant hunting season and Quail season for everyone starts next weekend, October 25.
The daily bag limit for pheasants is three, and the daily bag limit for quail is eight.
