(Oakland) Riverside Head Coach Darrell Frain emphasizes that being in this position at the end of the year is what every team aims for, as Riverside prepares to travel to ACGC for the Class A District #7 championship.
Frain outlines the team’s goals: to make the playoffs, win the district, and ultimately reach the Dome.
The Bulldogs have been impressive this season, averaging 42 points per game, despite losing nine starters from last year’s team, which advanced to the second round of the playoffs before falling to the eventual champion, Tri-Center. Coach Frain believes that the new players need to develop confidence in themselves.
He highlights the importance of containing ACGC’s running attack, which averages 8.0 yards per carry.
Frain notes that the Charges’ defensive front is big and physical and will do everything possible to stop Riverside’s outstanding running back, Jaxon Gordon, who has rushed for over 1,800 yards this season.
Coach Frain praises the offensive line for their excellent performance in paving the way for Gordon, acknowledging that he is the first to give them credit for their support.
Frain concludes that the game will ultimately depend on limiting penalties, protecting the ball, and performing well in special teams. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at ACGC.
