(Audubon, IA) — Aiden Kjergaard had a near perfect night for Audubon on Friday night as the Wheelers finished their season at a perfect 8-0 with a 80-16 win over Exira EHK.
Kjergaard only carried it three times but each time he took it to the end zone with TD runs of 35, 44, and 44 yards. The Sophomore also threw a 67 yard TD pass to Austin Christensen.
The Audubon offense really did not get on the field much after late in the first quarter. After a 40-0 lead, Brody Weber recovered a fumble and somersaulted into the end zone for a TD. Early in the 2nd quarter, Christensen picked off a pass and returned it 17 yards for a score. Plus, Jorgen Nowatzke returned a punt 56 yards for a TD. The Wheelers led 60-0 at the half.
Paxton Beane got to play the entire 2nd half and had 11 carries for 113 yards and 3 TD.
Josten Kilworth had a 10 yard TD run on the first drive of the 2nd half for Exira EHK and Bryce Brabham scored on a 7 yard run in the 4th quarter. The Spartans are now in a 3 way tie with CAM and Coon Rapids Bayard for 3rd place in the district and will play a waiting game if they win the tiebreaker or get an at large spot to make the playoffs.
