
(Oakland, IA) — Riverside High School hosted the Western Iowa Conference cross country meet on Monday and the Bulldogs dominated the boys competition while Treynor likewise did the girls.
Riverside’s boys had 4 of the top 5 finishers and finished with 20 points well ahead of IKM Manning in 2nd place with 62. Tri Center was 3rd with 94; Underwood 4th at 103; Missouri Valley 5th at 104 and Treynor rounded out the field at 123.
Haven Weers of Tri Center was the conference champion with a time of 16:54.99 ahead of Dawson Henderson of Riverside at 17:20.50. Also for the Bulldogs, Brody Henderson was 3rd (17:26.49); Owen Fenner 4th (17:40.19) and Eli Hudnall 5th (18:10.19). Landon Thayer of Logan Magnolia was 6th; Jacob Sporrer of Lo Ma 7th; Cruz Jaquez of Riverside 8th; James McCready of Riverside 9th; and Nicholas Dahir of Tri Center rounded out the top ten. Landon Leaders led Underwood in 11th place; Ty Nelson was the only boy running for AHSTW and finished 16th.
On the girls side, Treynor had 5 of the top 6 runners in the race with Lily Miller winning at 20:18.03. Treynor finished with 15 points which is as low as you can score in a cross country meet. Allysen Johnsen of Logan Magnolia was 2nd at 20:56.25 but the Panthers did not have enough runners to qualify in the team standings. Also for the Cardinals — Madalyn Kerkmann was 3rd, Anne Miller 4th, Lilly Youchum 5th, and Madaline Knispel 6th. Reese Dittmer of Tri Center was 7th and Jillian Budge was 9th as the Trojans finished in 2nd place in the team standings with 46 points. AHSTW was third with 109; Riverside 4th at 117; Missouri Valley 5th at 120; and IKM Manning 6th at 125.
Ally Adams of Underwood was 14th and Ava Paulsen was 16th. There were 53 runners competing on the girls side and and 55 runners for the boys.
This was the first ever cross country meet hosted by Riverside High School.
