(Logan) Logan-Magnolia is set to face the undefeated Woodbury Central in a Week 7 matchup for Class A District 8. Both the Wildcats and St. Albert currently have a record of 4-0 in district play, while IKM/Manning, Akron-Westfield, and Logan-Magnolia each have a record of 2-2. Panthers Head Coach Matt Straight noted that Woodbury Central has been a traditionally strong team over the past few seasons. He mentioned that playing against the Wildcats can be intimidating, and he believes his team needs to overcome that feeling to achieve success.
The Wildcats have had success running and throwing the football this season. Quarterback Jackson Verschoor has thrown for 1,147 yards. As a team, they have rushed for 1,147 yards, led by Abe McGill’s 737, and eleven touchdowns.
Despite the team being bitten by the injury bug early in the season, the Panthers have put up some impressive numbers. Brodie Davis has thrown for 1,011 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Panthers have rushed for another 658.
Coach Straight has been impressed with several of his players on the defensive side of the ball.
Coach Straight says maintaining ball possession will be crucial, and we must limit Woodbury Central’s possessions.
The game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at Woodbury Central.
