(Atlantic, IA) — Atlantic hosted their annual cross country meet on a gorgeous night at Nishna Hills Golf Course and Lincoln Pius X has dominated the team standings in recent years. Still, Lilli Denton of St. Albert has also dominated the individual race. Denton won easily by 49 seconds over Grace Berglund of Glenwood — 18:34.2 to 19:23.8. Malia Woosley of Lincoln was 3rd, Ashlyn Rau of Harlan 4th (19:55.2) and Lilly Miller of Treynor 5th (20:09.1). Julia Heslink of Harlan finished 6th (20:20.6).
The Atlantic girls’ cross country team placed 6th overall with a team score of 148 points. Senior Katrina Williams led the Trojans with a strong performance, finishing 16th individually in a time of 21:25.10.

After the race, Williams shared her thoughts on her performance.
Kaitlyn Hickman also turned in a solid effort, placing 25th with a time of 22:07.09. Gabrielle Engler followed her in 32nd (22:49.80), Leighton Wailes in 42nd (23:21.20), Ximena Mendez-Cordero in 50th (23:45.00), Bella Brock in 53rd (23:53.10), and Claire Comer in 88th (26:06.40). Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason praised the team’s efforts and consistency across the lineup.
