(Harlan, IA) — Its Homecoming week for Harlan football as they face Perry on Friday night. It has been an uncharacteristic hard season for the Cyclones with just two wins but they did thump Creston last week 56-35. Senior QB Gabe Arkfeld has thrown for 1,050 yards on the season, 10 TD and 5 INT. He says the 2-4 record does not reflect how good this team is
The Cyclones got a boost from Senior Ayden Redmon last week, rushing for a career high 243 yards and 3 TD including a 77 yarder. Redmon was the starter, lost his job and did not play in week two but came back and ran for 125 yards against Lewis Central and then had his breakout game against the Panthers. Head Coach Todd Bladt says he has not reached his full potential yet
Redmon says he has a unique style of running that makes him difficult to tackle
Bladt says that Harlan got other big plays against Creston including a 65 yard punt return for a TD from Landon Nihsen
Harlan hosts winless Perry this Friday, then they visit Atlantic next week and close out the regular season at home against Greene County — all three games have playoff implications for the Cyclones.
