(Harlan) The Harlan City Council on Tuesday addressed a handful of amended ordinances, approved wage adjustments, parking space allocations, and parking sign regulations, as well as updated job descriptions and amended a city code related to adult entertainment.
City Councilman Kyle Lindberg made a motion to increase the wages of wastewater treatment employees to align them more closely with those of other communities of a similar size.

Also, on the docket was amending an ordinance about adult entertainment businesses. The modified section states that an “Adult Entertainment Cabaret” means an establishment where a regular and substantial portion of its business is providing adult entertainment which features strippers, or live performances, or material which is primarily characterized by an emphasis on specified sexual activities or specified anatomical areas. * The Council approved a street closing for the homecoming parade on Friday, October 10, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
*The Council also approved wage adjustments for Tara Painter and Emily Kurth-Christensen, as approved by the Library Board.
*The City Council approved a recommendation to allow one reserved parking space in front of a business on Market Street.
*The City Council also approved the job descriptions for the City Clerk and full-time Administrative Assistant.
*The Council accepted the 2025 Annual Tax Increment Financing Indebtedness Certification. This is a list of all individual TIF indebtedness obligations that have not been previously certified to the county auditor, including the percentage of TIF dollars allocated to the developer, maximum dollar amounts, and time limits.
