(Des Moines) Iowa drivers are paying a little less at the pump this week. According to AAA, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa fell 5 cents to $2.86 per gallon, 13 cents lower than one year ago. The national average held steady at $3.16.
Diesel prices in Iowa remained unchanged at $3.50 per gallon, 21 cents below the national average of $3.71. A year ago, diesel sold for $3.31 statewide.
Global crude oil prices also declined. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dropped $2.13 to $62.60 per barrel, while Brent crude fell $3.29 to $65.66. Both remain lower than a year ago when WTI was $70.41 and Brent was $75.30.
Natural gas prices rose 21 cents at the Henry Hub benchmark, reaching $3.37 per MMbtu. Retail heating oil and propane prices will be reported once federal data is available.
