(Griswold, IA) — Its a non conference volleyball match tonight as Griswold hosts Woodbine, coverage on KSOM. This is a rematch — Woodbine beat Griswold in early September at a tournament in Missouri Valley, winning in two straight sets 21-16 and 23-21.
The Griswold Tigers are coming off a 3 set loss to #4 Sidney on Tuesday. They have struggled with being efficient in their hitting – a team rate of .011. Junior Amanda Houser leads with 115 kills and Junior Arika Palmer has 96 kills. Junior Carsyn Adams has been steady at setter with 286 assists.
Houser also leads the defense with 133 digs — Head Coach Jody Rossell kind of brings everybody together on the court
Adams has 104 and Senior Kate Tischer has 100 digs. Griswold’s has been solid in the service game with 89.4 efficient – Houser leads with 33 aces. Adams has a 94 percent efficiency and 14 aces.
Woodbine lost to Coon Rapids Bayard in 3 sets on Tuesday but beat CAM in 3 sets last Thursday. They have a solid hitting combo in Senior Isabell Cook with 134 kills and Freshman Vanessa Blum at 127 kills. Senior Hannah Wendt is the setter with 320 assists.
Senior Reese Leaders is the libero and leads in digs with 194. Junior Kate Barry has 152 digs and Senior Taylor Hoefer has 139 digs Woodbine also has a solid serving team at 89.6 percent – Woodbine has 134 aces as a team compared to Griswold’s 131.
Both teams do not have many blocks – Woodbine is led by Blum with 24 while Griswold has Palmer with 31. However, Rossell thinks blocking might be a team strength
