(Guthrie Center, IA) — Its Homecoming week for AC/GC and the Charger football team is off to a perfect 5-0 start including a 33-15 win last week against Madrid. The defense held the Tigers to just 6 yards passing. On offense, Head Coach Cody Matthewson made a change at fullback moving Senior Brexton Schneider from halfback and he responded with 24 carries for 198 yards and 3 TD. Schneider says he was comfortable in his new position
Senior Carter Richter is an anchor on the offensive line and has 19.5 tackles plus 8.5 TFLs. He says there have been new players in new roles this year and everybody is more comfortable than they were at the start of the season
Senior Xander Harwood leads a balanced defense with 25 tackles and believes the team chemistry is strong
Senior QB Tommy Skram is a converted wide receiver; he has 112 rushing yards but has only thrown it 4 times this season. Skram is getting more and more comfortable with leading the offense
Senior Joe Crawford leads the team in rushing with 597 yards and 9 TD. AC/GC won a close game against Mount Ayr two weeks ago and knew they had to play better against Madrid
The Homecoming interviews for AC/GC will air throughout the day tomorrow on KSOM. AC/GC will host Central Decatur this Friday.
