(Cedar County) A woman from Marion, Iowa, suffered serious injuries in a crash that occurred on Tuesday morning in a construction zone on westbound Interstate 80 near mile marker 254, according to a report from the Iowa State Patrol.
Troopers indicated that the incident took place around 10:45 a.m. when a 2021 Mack truck, operated by 62-year-old John G. Sueper of Cedar Rapids, was backing up toward other construction equipment and accidentally struck a worker who was on foot.
The injured worker has been identified as 43-year-old Stephanie D. Owens, also from Marion. She was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by Johnson County Ambulance for treatment. At the scene, the Iowa State Patrol received assistance from police and fire crews from West Branch.
