(Audubon, IA) — The Audubon football team had its sternest test of the season last Friday in a 40-8 win over Fremont Mills. Sophomore QB Aiden Kjergaard had 27 carries for 194 yards and 4 TD and was 5-7 passing for 85 yards and another score. Sophomore Mason Kasperbauer had 10 carries for 66 yards and Austin Christensen had 3 catches for 37 yards and a TD. Head Coach Sean Burks says it was a wake up call for his team to play the Knights
The Knights got the most of their yards on the ground — Paxton Campbell had 12 carries for 100 yards and QB Sawyer Forney had 14 carries for 93 yards but Forney was ineffective in the passing game — just completing 2 of 15 passes for 13 yards and 1 Interception. Mason Reed and Sam Sanchez had zero catches. The Wheelers only had one QB sack so it was the coverage that was outstanding says Birks
Birks gave a lot of credit to his defensive backfield — Kjergaard, Kasperbauer, Jorgen Nowatzke, Karter Obermeier and Carson Wessel
Audubon is still ranked #5 in the Radio Iowa poll and is also ranked #5 in the first IHSAA poll. The 5-0 Wheelers host 2-3 Glidden Ralston this Friday.
