(Exira, IA) — Two teams will be trying to turn their seasons around tonight as Griswold visits Exira EHK, coverage on KSOM.
Griswold has lost three games in a row and Head Coach Seth Lembke has made a switch at quarterback. Last week, Sophomore Dain Laverty got the start and Senior Wyatt Silk moved to wideout against Coon Rapids Bayard but the Tigers lost 72-0. Laverty was only 3-9 passing for 24 yards and an INT. Lembke says that Laverty will grow into the position
The Tigers had a huge setback when their best lineman Senior RJ Dishong was lost for the season with an injury. Lembke says it will have to be next man in mentality
Exira EHK is led by Senior QB Bryce Brabham who has 664 yards rushing and 12 TD — last year he ran for 232 yards and a TD against Griswold so Lembke says there is just one thing they need to focus on tonight
Spartans Head Coach Drew Buckholdt does say that Brabham got banged up last week in a 62-24 loss to Ar-We-Va but he would be surprised if he does not play. Exira EHK actually outgained the Rockets in total offense last week but were minus 5 in the turnover margin and gave up some big plays in the special teams that was disturbing to Buckholdt
Buckholdt feels like Exira EHK has not showed their best football yet — he will need Brabham to play but if not, it will be Josten Kilworth to take the snaps and the two friends will both play quarterback during the game anyway and Buckholdt expects his team to rally around both
Buckholdt says that Griswold missed some big plays last week and he does not want them to start hitting their stride against his team. He wants to bring pressure and winning the line of scrimmage is paramount because the Tigers have size
Griswold is 1-4, Exira EHK is 1-3, game time is 7:00, Scouting Report at 5, In the Huddle at 5:15, Pre Game at 6:30 on KSOM and Western Iowa Today TV. It is Homecoming for Exira EHK.
