(Neola, IA) — Tri Center has had a tough stretch of games losing three straight to OABCIG, Hinton and last week opened district play with a 64-33 loss to Underwood. The bad news is that the Trojans lost their leader on defense Senior LB Jayden Johnson to an injury that will keep him out for maybe the rest of the regular season. The good news is that Head Coach Steve Peterson will get some other players back from concussions. With Johnson out, Peterson will turn to others to lead the defense
Despite the losses, players are trying to be upbeat. Of the Senior leaders Cael Witt believes that the team will find a way to sort things out. Peterson hopes that positivity will stick with all the guys because the season is not over yet
This week Tri Center will face Red Oak who has won two in a row — both games by one point — 22-21 over West Central Valley and 14-13 last week against Missouri Valley. The Tigers have been more successful throwing than running — Senior QB Mason Fisher has thrown for 459 yards with 2 TD but 3 INT. Peterson says a priority for his team is avoid missed tackles on defense and re establish the running game which has struggled the last two weeks
Its Homecoming week for Tri Center — the 1-3 Trojans host 2-2 Red Oak.
