(Neola, IA) — So far so good for Riverside volleyball — 19 up and 19 down. Tonight, Tri Center will try to become the first team to knock off the #7 ranked Bulldogs in a Western Iowa Conference match up, coverage on KSOM.
Riverside has not been a 100 percent healthy — Sophia Fenner has missed time at libero so Ashley Kelley has filled in and Bentley Rone has played exclusively at setter. The Bulldogs went to a 6-1 instead of 5-2 but Head Coach Brooke Flathers expects Fenner to be back tonight. Flathers says that its a credit to the girls showing their flexibility
Sydney Somers leads Riverside in kills with 107 but Lilli Reed is close behind with 92. They are both juniors and Flathers says they get their kills in different ways
Riverside has not played since last Thursday but Tri Center has not won since two weeks ago against Audubon. The Trojans lost a 4 setter to Underwood, went 0-3 last Saturday at the Red Oak tournament and fell in 4 sets to IKM Manning on Tuesday. Head Coach Liz Thielen says the team thrives on their serving so if they can do that against Riverside they can get back to their game
Tri Center is lead by Harlie Leaders with 114 kills, 28 blocks, and 11 aces. Tri Center took one set against Riverside in Oakland last year — one of the few teams in the conference to do it and Thielen hopes the home court and Homecoming week will help motivate them to pull the upset
Riverside 19-0, Tri Center 6-13, game time is at 7:30 tonight, coverage on KSOM.
