(Atlantic) Atlantic Police Chief Devin Hogue was recognized with an Impact Award for his dedication to improving mental health and resiliency resources for law enforcement across Iowa.
Hogue, along with Assistant Chief Paul Wood, attended the Small Agency Development and Recruitment Conference in Ankeny. During the evening reception hosted by Karl Emergency Vehicles, Hogue was surprised with the award, presented in honor of his efforts to support the well-being of officers statewide.
In 2023, Hogue applied for and secured a Department of Justice grant to expand mental health services in public safety. With this funding, the Iowa Resiliency Program was launched. The program partners with TN Bleu Training Conglomerate of Georgia to provide a 24-hour Mental Health and Resiliency course for public safety personnel across Iowa. Thanks to the grant, the training is free to participants and has also supported the training of instructors who can bring the program back to their own agencies.
Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett congratulated Chief Hogue on the award during Wednesday’s City Council meeting…
Chief Hogue expressed gratitude to his peers who nominated him for the award and gave special recognition to State Center Police Chief Jon Thomas for his leadership in advancing training opportunities for small-agency leaders across the state.
