(Guthrie Center, IA) — AC/GC got their biggest test of the season last week and they passed that test, beating Mount Ayr 28-20 — now they prepare for a bigger test this week at Madrid. The Chargers shut out the Raiders in the 2nd half; Joe Crawford ran 19 times for 164 yards and 2 TD; Angel Martinez added 55 yards and Brexton Schneider had 50 yards. While the offense did enough, Head Coach Cody Matthewson said the defense did more than enough
The defense had a balanced tackle chart — Xander Harwood, Carter Richter and Kade Sorensen each had 5 tackles to lead the way. They are all seniors and Matthewson says they are playing like it
Matthewson says it was good for his football team to play a full four quarters which was the first time all season
This week the test is Madrid — AC/GC is ranked #4 in Class A, the Tigers are ranked #9. Madrid has a history of winning and Matthewson says Brock Hinkel always puts a tough team on the field
The nuts and bolts of the game is simple, AC/GC is going to run the football, they know, Madrid knows, everybody knows it. The Tigers are led defensively by Easton Halverson with 24.5 tackles, 7.5 TFLs. Matthewson says the big eaters up front will have to create some holes
AC/GC is 4-0, Madrid is 3-1
