(Audubon) Last week, families in Audubon were left scrambling to make new childcare arrangements after the Children’s Nest Daycare Center announced its closure. The Center announced last week that the director had stepped down due to unforeseen circumstances. Under Iowa Department of Health and Human Services regulations, the facility cannot operate without a qualified director.
The Friendship Home operates a daycare center that can accommodate up to 45 children. The board overseeing the center currently has three members but can have a maximum of seven. Board member Sarah Robertson informed KSOM/KS95 News that the board of directors met on Monday evening, September 22, to discuss the future of the childcare center.
Robertson says the board is planning a round table discussion where community members can come together, and figure out how they can all be a part of this. She says another way to help is spreading the word about the Children’s Nest Daycare.
Robertson reached out to the staff, and thanked them for sticking with it.
Robertson says the board is actively exploring every possible option to move forward. She says they will let the community know as soon as they have more information to share.
Parents or community members with questions are encouraged to contact the center directly at 515-681-6331.
