(Atlantic) The Atlantic Trojans football team achieved a decisive victory against Storm Lake last Friday night in a non-district football game held at Storm Lake. The running game was instrumental in this win, with the team amassing a remarkable 377 yards on the ground. Leading the charge was Ethan McNeal, who carried the ball 26 times for an impressive 222 yards. His outstanding performance earned him the title of KS 95.7 Armour Insurance Trojan Athlete of the Week.
McNeal attributes his success to his fullback, Gavin McLaren, and the offensive line for paving the way for him.
He possesses remarkable speed, having qualified for the state track meet as a sophomore in the 100, 200, and 400-meter events. He was also part of the school-record-setting 4×100-meter relay team that medaled at the Class 3A state meet.
Last season, Ethan McNeal played a backup role as a tailback, carrying the ball 62 times for a total of 584 yards. So far this season, through four games, the junior running back has carried the ball 80 times for 437 yards and four touchdowns. The Trojans are set to open district play on Friday night against Creston.
