(Atlantic) – The Atlantic girls tennis team is moving on after pulling off a 5-4 victory over Audubon in regional team competition Monday afternoon in Atlantic.
The Wheelers came out strong, winning four of the six singles matches. Briley Belnap (#1), Vivian Jackson (#4), Lena Rieman (#5), and Reagan Hoffman (#6) each delivered points for Audubon. Atlantic kept its hopes alive with singles wins from Lily Willrich at #2 and Shauna Anderson at #3.
Needing a sweep in doubles to secure the team victory, the Trojans did exactly that. The duos of Jacobi Harter/Willrich, Anderson/Aubrey Winford, and Dylin Ball/Taryn O’Brien each earned wins to push Atlantic into the next round.
With the comeback, Atlantic advances to face Clarinda in the regional semifinals on Wednesday, September 24, in Atlantic. Shenandoah and Saint Albert are playing in the semifinals on the other side of the bracket. The winners will meet in the finals on Saturday, September 27
