(Iowa City, IA) — Kirk Ferentz did not take much time to celebrate his 206th victory last Saturday moving him past Woody Hayes as the Big Ten’s All-Time Winningest coach. Its a short week for Iowa as they visit Rutgers Friday night.
The Hawkeyes still do not have a clear number one running back and the position got a little murky when Xavier Williams went down with an injury against UMass but Ferentz says that Sophomore Kamari Moulton will play for the first time this season against the Scarlet Knights
Rutgers is 3-0 with a close win over Ohio University 34-31 and blowout wins over Miami (Oh) and Norfolk St. QB Athan Kaliakamanis played two seasons at Minnesota; RB Kyle Monangai is now in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and Rutgers has turned to Sophomore Antwan Raymond and Senior CJ Campbell. Ferentz says the Knights offense is a veteran group
Rutgers Head Coach Greg Schiano was talked about a candidate for Iowa’s Defensive Coordinator position when Ferentz was first hired as Head Coach at Iowa — Schiano went to Miami (Fl) as the DC under Butch Jones and later went to Rutgers. Ferentz instead hired Norm Parker who brought Phil Parker from Michigan St. and the rest, as they say, is history. Ferentz is well familiar with Schiano’s reputation
Iowa is 2-1, Rutgers is 3-0, game time on Friday night is at 7 pm, it will be televised by Fox
