(Neola, IA) — Tri Center has lost two games in a row and the Trojans have some injury problems as well. Head Coach Steve Peterson says that WR Zach Nelson and TE/LB Jayden Johnson are both banged up and are in doubt for this week’s district opener. Peterson says they have other injuries as well to tax the team’s depth. If Nelson cannot go, it will put pressure on Cael Witt who has 27 catches for 419 yards and 3 TD while Nelson has 32 receptions for 359 yards and 3 TD. Peterson will need to see guys like Rylan Ring and Steven Ring produce more
Tri Center lost to Hinton 40-26 last Friday and Adan Goldapp was held to 57 yards rushing. If Nelson cannot play, then Peterson says they got to find a way to move the ball and that means doing it better on the ground
On defense, Johnson had 4.5 tackles last week against the Blackhawks before he left with an injury. Chazz Leaders is hurt and Peterson hopes he can go this week — he had 7.5 tackles along with Aidan Osbahr last week. Peterson says they had to work with different players at different positions last week
Peterson says that the decisions on many players on whether they play this week at Underwood may not be made until game time.
