(Omaha, NE) — In front of a record setting crowd, top ranked Nebraska beat #18 Creighton on Tuesday night in a five setter. The Huskers win 25-17, 21-25, 25-18, 24-26, 15-9 in one the fastest growing rivalries in college volleyball.
Harper Murray led the Huskers with 17 kills and 10 digs, Virginia Adriano had 13 kills and 2 aces, Andi Jackson had 13 kills and 4 blocks, Taylor Landfair added 12 kills and Rebekah Allick put in 7 kills. Bergen Reilly had 43 assists and moved to #6 in Nebraska history in assists.
The Jays had back to back aces in the 5th set but Adriano smashed two kills to tie it at 3-3. After a Creighton side out, Harper Murray for the Huskers had back to back kills and after a Jay timeout, Jackson had a big kill to build a 7-4 lead. Nebraska pushed the lead to 9-5 — Creighton got as close as two 9-7 but Murray’s 17th kill of the night made it 12-8. Allick got a kill to make it 13-8 and after a side out exchange, Allick’s kill ended the match.
Creighton was led by Ava Martin with 16 kills and Kiara Reinhardt added 11 kills. Saige Damrow had 14 digs and Annalea Maeder added 12 digs.
The official attendance at the CHI Health Center in Omaha was 17,675 which is a new NCAA record for an indoor regular season match.
Nebraska remains unbeaten at 9-0 while the Jays fall to 5-5.
