(Oakland, IA) — Riverside’s Jaxon Gordon played banged up last week but still had 33 carries for 176 yards and 2 TD in the Bulldogs 33-21 win over AHSTW. Head Coach Darrell Frain kept Gordon’s condition close to the vest all week and he says on Thursday night he was thinking that Cole Jeppesen was going to start at tailback. Instead, Jeppesen had a big game in a support role with catches for 97 yards and 2 TD plus a rushing TD and an interception. Frain says its nice to know that he is there and that he can take some of the load off Gordon
Frain says that Gordon iced down all weekend and is in better shape now than he was last week and he will see limited reps in practice until he heals completely.
Another injury for Riverside is in the kicking game. Jeppesen has been drafted for kickoff duties until Peyton Amdor gets better — Amdor has been able to play on offense and defense but his foot has been hurting
On defense, Jack Branan led the way with 10 tackles but the stat sheet did not completely show the contributions of Junior Uriah Reed who Frain says made some big plays
Riverside will visit Southwest Valley this Friday in a district game, both teams are 2-1.
