(Atlantic) Missing out on a state cross country berth last year has fueled Katrina Williams this season. So far, she has placed in the top ten at every meet, highlighted by a first-place finish last week in Clarinda, where she crossed the line in 20:52.51, leading her team to the team title. Heading into the meet, Katrina Williams believed she had a shot at the top spot after placing third at the same event a year ago.
Following last season, Williams dedicated herself to training and logging extra miles..
Williams credits her father for motivating her to get up early each morning and put in the miles.
Williams says the effort is paying off not only for her individually but for the team as well. At Clarinda, Williams noted the squad closed some gaps and continues to push hard in both practice and competition.
