(Guthrie County, IA) — A two-vehicle accident in Guthrie County has left one teen dead and three others injured. Authorities say 17-year-old Savannah Nicole Mattias was driving a 2003 Chevy Cavalier westbound on Highway 44 shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday when she drove head-on into a 2016 Ford F250 driven by 37-year-old Noelle Elizabeth Bubeck, of Redfield.
Savannah Mattias was pronounced dead at the scene, as the driver of the pickup, Noelle Bubeck, and her 10- and 11-year-old passengers were injured. One of the two minors was life-flighted for suspected serious injuries.
Authorities did not specify the severity of the injuries to the driver and the other child. Investigators believe the crash happened after Mattias failed to negotiate a curve on the roadway.
