(Anita, IA) — One of the best games on Friday night was CAM going down to Bedford and upsetting the 10th ranked Bulldogs. Leading the way was Senior Collin Bower but he does not take much credit.
Bower had a monster game — 12 carries for 202 yards and 5 rushing TD plus 3 receptions for 58 yards and 1 TD and on defense had 6.5 tackles, 6 of them solo, 3 TFL’s and 2 fumble recoveries. If he had driven the bus, he would have done it all. However, Bower is a modest player and he deflects the credit
In game one, Bower lined up at his usual spot at wide receiver but in game two, he saw more rushing attempts and this past week, he became the Cougars primary ball carrier. Head Coach Nick Kauffman says you got to get your best athlete the football the most amount of times. Bower says the change in roles is not a big deal
At the beginning of the season, Kauffman was concerned with his offensive line but Bower says he has seen those guys develop in the team’s 2-1 start
On defense, many teams will focus their energy on blocking Bower but that has freed other guys to make plays — guys like Kason Calhoun who posted 17 tackles against Bedford. Bower says that’s just fine with him
Bower says the most important thing is that the Team with a capital T wins games. Bower says he would love the opportunity to play college football but he says the recruiting process has not really developed yet. CAM hosts Audubon this Friday night, coverage on KSOM.
