(Iowa City, IA) — Iowa Men’s Basketball Head Coach Ben McCollum has made it no secret that he has targeted the transfer portal to reload his team for this season but that does not mean he is thinking of the future. On Saturday, 4 star recruit Ethan Harris who is a senior in high school has declared his intention to play for Iowa.
Harris is 6-9 200 pounds and is listed as the top recruit in the state of Washington according to 247 Sports. On X, Recruiting Guru Colby Giacubeno of 247 Sports says “Hybrid F Ethan Harris is one of my favorite prospects that I’ve seen this summer. Positional size, a textbook jumper & a competitive edge that is very rare in today’s game. Disruptive in passing lanes defensively, competes on the glass.”
Harris chose Iowa over Gonzaga, Boise St. and Washington and is the first player to commit in McCollum’s recruiting class for next year. Harris is the 2nd 4 star recruit to commit to Iowa — Trey Thompson was originally in the 2026 class but was reclassified and is joining the Hawkeyes this season.
In other Iowa men’s basketball news, the Hawkeyes announced their non conference schedule for the 2025-26 season. The Hawkeyes will open the season with their first five games at home, hosting Robert Morris (Nov. 4), Western Illinois (Nov. 7), Xavier (Nov. 14), SEMO (Nov. 18) and Chicago State (Nov. 20).
Iowa travels to Palm Springs, California, for the Acrisure Classic where the team will face Ole Miss on Nov. 25. The Hawkeyes will then play either Grand Canyon or Utah in a second game on Nov. 26.
The Hawkeyes travel to Ames, Iowa, for an Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series matchup at Iowa State on Dec. 11 before hosting Western Michigan on Dec. 14. After playing Bucknell at the Casey’s Center in Des Moines on Dec. 20, Iowa closes on nonconference play against UMass-Lowell on Dec. 29 in Iowa City.
Iowa will play four games against 2025 NCAA Tournament teams during non-league play with a fifth game possible depending on the results of the Acrisure Classic.
